Thank You for Your understanding on this matter.

I am working on this blog post today and will set it free to the world tomorrow. It is time to open the Pandora’s Box and see what develops.
Just the quick post I made about this on Facebook brought out the reinforcements to try and stop this story before it is even written.!!!!
YOU WILL NOT STOP THE TRUTH ONCE IT BEGINS TO FLOW LIKE A RAGING RIVER TAKING CASUALTIES ALONG THE WAY.
PREPARE FOR & BEWARE OF THE PERFECT STORM THAT IS AT THE HORIZON. All the factors are there to create a swell that will wash ashore the hidden truth.
We are going back to UMASS and the beginning, Lot 12 and the mysterious actions by all those involved in this case, both closely and on the peripheral. The edges of this case are rough and they must be planed down to show the growth rings as well as the knots and the imperfections that plague this proverbial Redwood that has grown in so many different directions only to make the climb that much more difficult.

While I’m on competing Private Eyes, whatever happened to early Pi RC Stevens? He seems to have fallen off the radar. I only just learned of him.
Again: Another call for a Pi Roundtable. Clunk heads together, ‘cuz, we’re stuck in this big black box.

I’m wondering why a replacement air bag sensor was in the Saturn, it was located in the pocket of one of the front seats! Why hasn’t this been talked about?

That is a good question. First, do we know it wasn’t the original airbag sensor? I never thought about that too much, to be honest, and only ever saw this mentioned on Renner’s one time, so I may have missed some talk about it. I took everyone’s word that it was an airbag sensor, but after looking it up only briefly, that is definitely what it is.
Could it be something pointing to the accident having happened prior to the final location, and someone planning to repair it at a later date? Would it have been removed as part of the investigation?
What were your thoughts on it Theresa?

I personally feel that the accident happened in Massachusetts. I believe the car was driven to its location with the damage that was witnessed when it was found at the weather around corner

As you know, I am new to the case, I feel I can hold my own as I read a lot of the blog, and did my research on a lot of things, I entered this case on. The 12 year anniversary after a friend posted about it on his Facebook page, I lived in the town next where Maura grew up and I thought this case had been solved. I digress, but every now and then something comes up that to me seems like a red flag, like having a replacement air bag sensor in the vehicle, sometimes, those red flags get explained very easily by people who have been looking at the case longer, other times, there isn’t an explanation…. Then my brain starts spinning…. Why would she have a spare air bag sensor? She would only have that if her air bag sensor broke, or if her air bags deployed, were her air bags deployed before she went to NH? I don’t think she hit Vasi, BUT there were multiple hit and runs at UMASS, was she involved in another one? Did someone see her? Did they threaten to tell? Did she tell her family? Is that why her car was parked and going to be replaced? I don’t know…. My brain just spins….

I did talk about this at some point in time I believe it is on my blog. It makes me believe that the accident and damage to the side and happened in Massachusetts and that was removed there and just left in the door compartment. That is my honest opinion

News to moi. If true, one more reason to scrutinize that car.

The airbag sensor inside the car — “Is it the original?”
If yes, then it’s certainly possibly that the damage to the car occurred before traveling from Mass. to NH. The original sensor would’ve been removed from its housing and left in the storage slot of the car door and was either replaced in the housing — or not. (if not replaced and there is/was no sensor, wouldn’t that increase the likelihood of personal injury in the event of a collision? Sabotage?)
Maybe the original sensor was replaced in Mass. in anticipation of a collision? (Somebody knew there was going to be a rough ride and prepared accordingly?)
If no, is someone driving around with a spare sensor in anticipation of a collision requiring replacement of the existing sensor? (Least likely IMHO.)
Thanks for your thoughts.

I may have found an answer to the airbag sensor:
As a couple of you may know, a family member of mine was involved in a fatal vehicle/pedestrian accident during the past year, and this was only wrapped up legally a couple months ago. I’ve read the entire report that was released to me under the FOIA, and I thought this may have rung a bell, hence me mentioning it briefly earlier.
In a lot of accidents the Airbag Control Module is used in the investigation to gain info about the crash. I believe that is the case here, and that that is the original ACM in the photos. I’d imagine it had been removed for this purpose, then placed back in the car. Most likely just left in the door pocket, since there would be no need to re-install it.
I’ve attached a screenshot of this section of the report on my family member’s accident (names redacted, obviously), to illustrate how it may have been used for this purpose. To me this closes the door on that.

Also in regards to the Vassi accident, wouldn’t Maura’s saturn have had a lot more noticeable damage to it, especially after hitting him with such force as to put him in a coma for several weeks.
Lastly with regards to Karen Mayotte what would be her motive for lying about the events on the night Maura had a breakdown at work. As far as I am aware they were not particularly close or even friends outside of work, so I am just curious what could motivate her to lie.

Good question Sammy.
Makes me wonder more about the relationship between UMASS Police and res-life security at that time.
Did/ does UMASS police provide any training to those folks?
Is/ was there a high level of communication and understanding between these groups? (Does res-life security have police at their immediate disposal? Speed-dial style?)
Also, how do UMASS police cadets fit into this?

Yeah I noticed that there are no names connected to the website though at all. They are nothing more than a bunch of Papa John Pizza pushers. None of them have a license and they are all just a fly-by-night organization. Notice what they work for they work only on cases that offer a reward. I met these guys back in 2005 and they were a bunch of slackers then and that’s what they are now. In fact when they were here back in 2005 they went to the wrong location and got lost. I would not waste my time with these people. Since 2001 how many cases have they solved that would be your big question and you might want to ask them that if you get a chance.

Now I kinda remember that gadget found in the door, don’t recall it being a sensor. Since it’s been scrutinized, I can live with it as needing no more further attention. I assume that whatever info gleaned from it is not ours to have, but LE’s.
BTW I did search for “sensor” but got the usual “Sorry …” from WordPress. Search functions at a lot of these sites suck.

Mac, it was definitely an airbag control module. The one in Maura’s car:
A quick Google search of ‘1996 Saturn SL2 airbag module’ shows that’s exactly what it is:

It was probably removed to have the info downloaded (if any), and when putting it back in the car there would be no need to re-install it, since Fred had already said that he had no interest in having the vehicle returned to him, nor was it to be auctioned off. Not all that odd to me.
I should also add that it was NHSP that investigated both Maura’s accident and the one I refer to. Just another reason for me to assume this is the reason.

random question…Which Senator recommended Maura to West Point?
LikeLike
June 29, 2016 at 12:19 pm
According to my reading up on the application process (man, complicated place to get into) it wouldn’t necessarily have to be a senator, but that seems like the easiest way to go.
http://www.usma.edu/admissions/SitePages/Apply_Nominations.aspx
“Who can nominate?
It also recommends they begin searching for nominations during their junior year of high school, or ASAP. So if you started from whatever year that would be for Maura, and looked at all the Massachusetts senator/representatives around that timeframe you’d get a list of possibilities.
Then there’s the “Service-Connected Nominations”, but those are typically reserved (as I understand it anyway) for son/daughters of career military personnel, and I don’t believe that’s the case here.
Unless you heard it directly from Fred (Perhaps Julie’s?) mouth, I don’t think we’ll have an answer to that one.

I think I remember reading it was a member of the House of Representatives, Hanson is in the 7th district (feel free to double check, Whitman is and they share a school system) Michael Capuano held the position from 1999-2011, Joseph Kennedy held the position from 1987-1998. Maura graduated in 2000, so if she was looking in beginning of her Junior year, that would be 1998, at the very end of Kennedys term.

If her body was dropped into a body of water, off a bridge, off the side of the road etc. it could have been done in such a way that you wouldn’t be able to see from the road and in a way that would be hard to see to someone walking along the road, and how many people are walking along the road in February?

It’s a case with three or four plausible possibilities, and we have evidence that points inconclusively to each.
In a world of possible implausibilities, this case begs, again, “What are the chances?” Apparently, “good enough” to any of those three or four possibilities.
We’ve got to consider how far, how wide were the chopper searches, as well as the ground searches, to get at a starting point where new searches should be begin.
To me, along the river is as good as any. The cabin is a possible search as well.

When the ice jams thaw and break, that river is out of control. I have some doubts about what might be left in the riverbed after 12 springs, but perhaps something could get caught up in all of those rocks.
If anything, it may be necessary to search further W/NW on the river back towards the old iron bridge at the intersection of 112 & 302.
I also wonder how well any of the “islands” have been checked, too.

In the wake of the hullabaloo regarding the cabin, I was looking at the area on Google Maps and it seems that the lot immediately NW of the gravel parking area has been logged fairly recently. (approx. 44.267994, -71.687025)
That might make things easier for a search in terms of bushwhacking, but it also makes me wonder if the crew that harvested timber in there came across anything of interest.
I think I’m going to check it out this weekend.

Yeah, it’s a cool concept but you know some dopes are going to kill themselves accidently playing it. Last night we saw a vid of three people who thought it a good idea to take a “selfie” RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF YOSEMITE FALLS. They hopped over the guard rail and waded literally 10′ from the edge to capture their special moment. A witness said you couldn’t imagine the look in one of the guy’s eyes as he lost his footing and went over the edge. Naturally, none of the three survived. Some do, I don’t know how.

Renner only posts comments that stir the pot, so to speak. It pisses me off. Karen’s account of the events and Susan’s account of the events an both be accurate. Follow me here, 001, passes Karen twice, 001 sees the Saturn, pulls up nose to nose with it, Karen passes, she stops in front of Atwoods, this spooks the driver of 001, Karen leaves, 001 leaves, from the moment 001 pulls up, until 001 leaves, could have been 30 seconds, short enough time frame for Faith to have never seen 001 there. Just because 001 was on scene, it doesn’t mean the driver of 001 did anything wrong…

Alex: I can respectfully disagree with Renner, but yeah, I think there’s a lot of people pulling his chain because they can. He’s retracted his statement that it was you on the phone so that’s clearing some air. I still think he’s wrong on this one.
One new bit I gleaned was the fact she thought that if the PD was truthful that the SUV was “out of commission” by 7pm, it could have been a mechanic on the road. Hmmm … sleepy town, small force, car worked on past 6pm? That’s a stretch. Not impossible but I ask, where’s the rush there? Dark night, wait ’til morning to road test it, y’know?
Again, just because 001 was at the scene pre- or post-Atwood doesn’t mean a crime was committed, but why is it off the dispatch record? The only reason is that it’s being driven for personal reasons or it was driven by a mechanic. In that scenario, that person can’t legally use the blue lights or speed.
Net, more questions.
Glad you guys got Ms McNamara to tell her story. I’m sure you warned her what she was getting into. Now that I know she’s suffered a recent personal tragedy on top of this, she didn’t have to do this, particularly when she had already been through this case years ago.

All this makes me want to hear from police from other districts. They don’t have near the skin in the game as Haverhill does. Bath?
The jurisdiction argument again comes into play. Why was Haverhill so insistent to keep this incident out of The State’s prying eyes? Technically, Haverhill is correct, the accident car came to rest literally yards from the Bath border, as opposed to a few miles to the federal forest. So in communities as Bath without 24/7 police service, the state would then take over or at least have more power. For whatever reason, Haverhill chose to fight to keep the car more on its side. It’s interesting though not at all suspicious that the blue ribbon happens to be located further west of the actual final resting place of The Saturn, giving seeming more credence to Haverhill’s argument that it owns The Maura Murray Case.

Don’t even get me started, Mac. Not only did Renner retract that statement (though he just strikes it through, so people can still read the original accusation, I appreciate that James.) he later told me in private that basically the person didn’t say my name at all they just “sounded a hell of a lot like” me. He also later said that he believed this person used Karen’s name, but “can’t be sure”.
I sure appreciate him getting all of that verified before posting it publicly, like a real “journalist”. It’s clear to me he’ll never even listen to anything that doesn’t mesh with what he presents in his book. I honestly gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought he was in this for more than that.
Karen’s comment about it being a mechanic literally made me shake my head and say “Wow. I never really even thought of that.”

I’ve been thinking about this too. It does makes sense to me that if Smith had the 002 Sedan, and earlier the chief drove the 001 SUV somewhere and was no longer using it due to almost wrecking earlier (not documented anywhere) and his alleged condition so he was no longer on duty, then someone else could have gotten the keys somehow and was driving it. The “it was out of commission” stance could have been to cover all that, especially since 001 SUV was observed at the WBC accident scene (not documented as well); and it was before FW called, which was documented. Was 001 SUV responding to the not documented 7:05pm scanner report heard by several local residents? It does fit that Karen was passed, saw the 2 cars nose to nose, stopped for 10 or 15 seconds to consider what to do, left, then 001 left, all before FW looked out the window. It could also fit that it happened after FW called and before BA arrived if Karen left work a few min or so later. The timing is so tight either way. But if the chief wasn’t driving 001, who was??? So, how many people have I seen post this very question in different spots online over the last year…

Absolutely agree. I enjoyed his book but he’s got to take far more care. He knows this but still falls into that trap. I wonder why. I don’t think it’s all about the book. But that tendency is annoying and I understand why it really rubs you off in a bad way. Perfectly reasonable. Some people are more excitable I guess. You don’t come off that way AT ALL.
Yeah! The mechanic angle was new to me too. Speculation but she was really thinking out of the box there. It’s not as if the PD actually said, “It’s out on repairs,” hence a leading statement. “Out of commission” is utterly ambiguous. It simply means, “You couldn’t have possibly seen what you think you saw.” As in, a “slam dunk” dismissal. I wonder with whom she spoke? There’s an interview right there, and you can bet that person will not talk.

Renner has since retracted what he wrote about myself and Karen’s “past”. I wish he had thought harder before posting it all to begin with, but I appreciate the removal of it.
The mechanic line of thought she mentioned simply speaks to the fact that she was never pushing any “conspiracy theory”, and she honestly believed what the police were telling her from day one. She was simply taking what was told to her as literally meaning the vehicle was “out of commission”, leading her to believe it was being repaired.
In our discussion it was touched on that it was never told to her immediately that the vehicle was “out of commission” in her initial reports to Haverhill PD, and it was relayed to her later, she believed, by John Healy.

I meant to add that after her initial reports, when her call was returned once or twice (by Haverhill PD), they just kept asking if “she was sure” it was SUV 001 she saw that night. The “out of commission” thing came back later.

Yep, because that infers the PD was not in communication with that vehicle for a period of time. Again, that doesn’t mean it’s suspicious, but that’s what that statement says to me, as in, “Really? Huh … because it was supposed to be ( insert probable place and time ). We have no idea what to say.”
What’s creepy to me is that the PD came around LATER for that “out of commission” line, as in, “nothing to see here” after trying to ferret a good reason as to 001’s whereabouts. It’s a verbal redaction in my book. Why?

Hey Mac,
Thanks for the recommendation on F for Fake.
Believe it or not, I had it kicking around but had never watched it before this weekend.
Admittedly, I only made it about 40 minutes before it was vetoed by my living room co-pilot, but I was struck by several things:
Shot on film, lovely. Orson Welles is something else. I loved his voice as Unicron in Transformers (1986). (āI have summoned you here for a purpose.ā)
I donāt know why, but it kept making me think about Jaime Escalanteās algebra lesson of āa negative times a negative equals a positive.ā
From what I can tell, itās a āfakeā documentary film about a biographical book, the subject of which is a man whose talent lies in the ability to produce incredible forgeries of classic paintings.
I thought it was interesting that Mr. Welles continually inserted himself into the action ā he was eating , drinking and cavorting with all of the filmās subjects throughout the film. It made me doubt his impartiality, he struck me as an outsider who was just āhappy to be there.ā
Mr. Welles noted that the painter āholds the art world hostageā. Perhaps thatās only what the documentary wants us to believe?
Interestingly enough, his fakes seem to not only perpetuate interest in replicas, but in the genuine articles too. It made me wonder about the original creatorsā (or rightful ownersā) takes on this. After all, their original work will always maintain value and prestige. Due to the authenticity, the original artist will always be in a position to take the high road, while also enjoying the added exposure brought about by forgeries.
I also noticed the museum exhibit full of his forgeries and the multiple references to his fakes in art literature/ guides/ texts. Does this intend to suggest that the existence of really good fakes only serves to enhance the protected positions and possessions of the art elite who have gotten in on the ground floor? (so to speak) I wonder if this also implies the existence of some art-world overclass, the enlightened few stomping on those who are simply late for the game?
Anyway, those were the notes I had on this for the first 40 minutes. I apologize for the random nature.
(Oh, and itās also kind of interesting to compare and contrast the above with the online community as we know it. Hmm.)

Boots: Hey, you gave it a try. “Fake” is not for everyone because it’s not your average film. It’s sort of a mockumentary, if you will. I grabbed it because I’d known of it for some time and am enthralled to find anything by Criterian. Art for art’s sake and fakery for deception’s sake.
That last line pretty much covers anything posted anywhere by known trolls in this case. As I’ve said before, people that do that should be charged with criminal mischief.
Welles could easily be charged with over-inserting himself in his own film, if it was even possible given his girth at the time. BTW, that chick was hawt, ha-ha!!! If it were me, I’d insert myself in the film too.

Its so frustrating my comments never get approved on renners blog. And it’s always the ones where I give credit to Alex or John. I just wrote a long one about Alex and witness a. What a waste. Anyway thank you Alex for doing that podcast even tho u knew ppl would discredit it and witness A’s account. That definitly had to be done. Awesome job.

Thanks for saying that ToniMarie. I appreciate it, and want people to know that I didn’t do any of this to try to be a “player” in this story. Neither Karen nor myself stand to gain anything by doing this.
Just presenting another “card” to put on this house. Maybe it will make it teeter and sway a bit.

ToniMarie: It won’t be wasted here! Sure would liked to have read it.
I used to post spontaneously, but if it’s going to be a long one, I put it in a text doc first. I lost several that way too. I usually write at night and post later.
There should be more open-mindedness out there than there is. Being so is not at all weak or indecisive; particularly since there’s so little to go on. It’s amazing to me that people are so certain as to what happened and go to such lengths to disprove some scenarios based on nothing.
I’m hoping that anyone out there looking is tuning into the clothes and the backpack mostly.

You’re most welcome. You’re among the caring crowd.
Ooops, I just did it again on Reddit. I wonder how many will respect it?

Darn good post over on reddit, Mac. Hope it’s taken seriously and heeded well. Any new info uncovered should be looked at as adding to, not replacing, what’s there already, unless and until it is absolutely found to be false. I like what one of the other posters there brought up: we don’t usually stare out the window endlessly at something going on in our area – we take breaks and do what it is we were doing before the event. Just the other night the ambulance went up my road. I went out on the front porch and watched for about 7 or 8 minutes, then went back inside, and continued to check on the situation sporadically for an hour or so, then lost interest. I have no idea what activity I missed when I wasn’t observing the scene.

I got dirt on my face over there but it is futile. We tried to reason and got unreasonable and logically-challenged responses in return.
Is it me or were the “rebuttal” threads taken down?

The pushback that has come since the launch of the witness interview has been intense. There is definitely an agenda here and I believe it is being pushed by someone very powerful

The 2005 Haverhill Town report has the info on the vehicle being repaired. It does not State what it is for I believe it only States an amount. I cannot remember offhand what that amount is

Let me get this straight- in late October 2006, on a sat, a dog got a hit inside the A frame house. The following Sunday 4 more dogs went in the house and went bonkers in the closet on the 1st floor?
A carpet sample from that closet was cut in half, Aaaand BOTH pieces have magically disappeared? WTF. That doesn’t make sense. And what happened to the test results? Those disappeared too? Obviously they wernt tested. Buy why?! My mind is never not on this case. It legit runs my life. Could not even imagine how Fred feels.

ToniMarie: Have been trying to come up with any kind of response to this.
The only thing that works for me is, “Trust no one. Keep your friends close; your enemies closer.”
Sad commentary.
Seems to me that this case is one of those in which you have to find things for yourself so I understand Mr Murray’s position.
If he could turn back the clock but if he were me, I would’ve kept some samples for myself and have them tested by an outside source.
It’s too convenient to write this sort of stuff but that’s the conclusion to which I’ve settled.

Mac your absolutely right. Everything is so shady to me. The witnesses all turn their heads at the exact time maura left her car, kate and sarah, those rug samples, the officer telling neighbors about the rag in tailpipe, the accident report being so wrong.. and so much more. Thank you for responding to me š
